Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 ½ cups of old-fashioned oats, 1 cup of flaked coconut, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of brown sugar. Stir until well blended.
  3. Add 1 cup of softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in one beaten egg and gently fold it into the crumb mixture. Stir in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving 1 ½ cups of dough for later.
  5. Press the larger portion of dough into the baking dish and bake for 10 minutes until edges are set and surface is lightly golden.
  6. Whisk together 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup of light corn syrup in a separate bowl until smooth.
  7. Pour the sweetened condensed milk mixture evenly over the hot crust, sprinkle with toffee bits, and crumble reserved dough on top.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25–30 minutes until the top is golden brown and filling is set.
  9. Allow to cool completely in the baking dish, then refrigerate briefly for easier slicing before cutting into squares.
