Step‑by‑Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 ½ cups of old-fashioned oats, 1 cup of flaked coconut, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of brown sugar. Stir until well blended.
- Add 1 cup of softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in one beaten egg and gently fold it into the crumb mixture. Stir in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving 1 ½ cups of dough for later.
- Press the larger portion of dough into the baking dish and bake for 10 minutes until edges are set and surface is lightly golden.
- Whisk together 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup of light corn syrup in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk mixture evenly over the hot crust, sprinkle with toffee bits, and crumble reserved dough on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25–30 minutes until the top is golden brown and filling is set.
- Allow to cool completely in the baking dish, then refrigerate briefly for easier slicing before cutting into squares.
