Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually mix in the sourdough discard, milk, and vanilla extract until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and gently knead it only 3 to 4 times until combined.
  5. Roll the dough into a 10x14-inch rectangle and spread softened butter over the surface.
  6. Sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and ground cinnamon on top, then roll the dough tightly into a log.
  7. Slice the log into 8 even pieces and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes if sticky.
  8. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and arrange sliced rolls in a parchment-lined baking pan.
