Ingredients
  

Marinade
  • 1 cup Honey Substitute with agave syrup for a vegan option.
  • ½ cup Soy Sauce Low-sodium soy sauce can be used.
  • ¼ cup Hoisin Sauce Use more soy sauce if unavailable.
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil Can substitute with olive oil.
  • 1 medium Shallot Can be replaced with red onion.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced garlic is best.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Use less if substituting with powdered ginger.
Kabobs
  • 1 pound Shrimp Extra-large, peeled and deveined.
  • 1 pound Chicken Breast Boneless, skinless.
  • 1 cup Pineapple Other fruits like mango can also work.
  • 1 medium Zucchini Yellow squash is a suitable alternative.
  • 1 medium Red Bell Peppers Green bell peppers can be used.
  • 1 medium Red Onion White onion can replace it.
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes Grape tomatoes can be substituted.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Make the marinade by blending honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, shallot, garlic, and ginger until smooth.
  2. Assemble skewers by threading shrimp, chicken, pineapple, zucchini, bell pepper, red onion, and cherry tomatoes.
  3. Marinate the skewers with one-third of the marinade. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grates.
  5. Grill the kabobs for about 4 minutes on one side, flip and baste with reserved marinade. Grill for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  6. Remove the kabobs from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
