  • 1 cup macaroni optional; can use gluten-free

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pot, heat over medium heat and add the lean ground beef. Cook the beef thoroughly for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until it's browned and no longer pink.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the same pot. Sauté them for 3-4 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, ensuring it mixes well with the beef and aromatics. Cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until the cabbage begins to soften.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and add your chosen seasonings. If you’re including macaroni, add it at this stage as well.
  5. Lower the heat and cover the pot, letting the goulash simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Before serving, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or cheese if desired.
