Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ cup of cocoa powder, and ½ teaspoon of kosher salt.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine ½ cup of semisweet chocolate chips, ½ cup of white chocolate chips, and ½ cup of unsalted butter. Heat until melted.
- In your stand mixer, beat 2 large eggs with 1 cup of granulated sugar, ½ cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until thickened.
- Pour the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg blend, mixing until combined. Scrape down the sides as needed.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and ½ cup of root beer to the chocolate mixture, mixing gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- While brownies cool, make the frosting by beating ½ cup of softened butter and 2 cups of confectioners' sugar until fluffy. Mix in root beer and extract.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled brownies, using a spatula for an even layer.
- Allow the brownies to set for about 15 minutes, then slice into squares to serve.

Notes
For the best texture, avoid overmixing and let brownies cool completely before frosting.
