  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar Substitution: Apple cider vinegar for a similar taste profile.
  • 1 tablespoon honey Substitution: Maple syrup can work as a vegan alternative.
For the Tacos
  • 1 package wonton wrappers Substitution: Lettuce wraps for a low-carb version.
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce Substitution: Sriracha for a spicy kick.
  • 0.5 cup chopped cilantro For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish.

Equipment

  • 9x13 baking dish
  • skillet
  • mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This step is crucial as it ensures your wonton shells become crisp and golden.
  2. Take your wonton wrappers and lightly spray or brush each one with oil to promote browning. Drape them over the edges of a 9x13 baking dish, making sure they don’t touch each other. Bake for 7-8 minutes until the edges turn golden, then pull apart and bake for another 7-8 minutes until crisp.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine diced chicken breasts with hoisin sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, and freshly grated ginger. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, then add the chicken mixture. Cook for about 7-8 minutes until fully cooked.
  4. In another bowl, combine coleslaw mix with chopped green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and a drizzle of honey. Toss together until well coated.
  5. Fill each wonton shell with the chicken filling. Top with coleslaw mixture, drizzle sweet chili sauce, and garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds.
  6. These tacos are best enjoyed right away while warm and crispy. Serve with extra sweet chili sauce on the side.
