  • 1 cup Ketchup No substitutions necessary!
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Consider tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Fresh onion is a substitute with caution on quantity.
For Finishing Touches
  • to taste Parsley Optional but recommended.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat and sear the chicken thighs for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and sear for another 2 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together sugar, vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Adjust flavors as desired.
  5. Pour half of the sauce into the Dutch oven around the chicken, then return the chicken skin-side up and add the remaining sauce.
  6. Cover and bake in the oven for 45 minutes.
  7. Uncover and bake for another 20-25 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, serve hot, and garnish with fresh parsley.
