  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger Ground ginger works in a pinch.
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted sesame oil

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Pat the sirloin steak dry and season both sides with sea salt and black pepper. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, mentsuyu, and minced garlic. Allow it to sit for a few minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add butter, and sauté minced ginger and garlic for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Cook short-grain rice according to package instructions and mix with garlic-ginger and mentsuyu marinade.
  5. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat, add sesame oil, and cook the marinated steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. In a separate pan, fry the flavored rice for about 5 minutes until it becomes slightly crispy.
  7. Serve the crispy rice in bowls, top with cubed steak, drizzle remaining mentsuyu, and garnish with green onions.
