Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out thawed puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Place half of the puff pastry hearts on the prepared baking sheet as the base.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of Nutella onto each base heart and add 2–3 thin slices of fresh strawberries.
- Brush the pastry borders with egg wash and top each with another heart shape, sealing the edges with a fork.
- Chill the assembled hearts in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes for crispness.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and optionally sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
