Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Slice sweet onions into even rings and layer them in the greased baking dish.
  3. Melt butter and drizzle it over the onions. Sprinkle garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper evenly on top.
  4. Sprinkle cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan cheeses generously on top of the seasoned onions.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
  7. Allow the dish to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
